On July 8, 2019, Mr. Niu Gensheng (Co-Chair of the East-West Philanthropy Forum, Founder and Honorary President of Inner Mongolia Lao Niu Charity Foundation) paid a visit to Italy with an EWPF delegation. The purpose of this tour was to consolidate the long-term mechanism of the China-Italy Philanthropy Forum signed and witnessed by the leaders of China and Italy in March 2019. The visit also aimed at effectively promoting practical project cooperation and reaching a consensus on joint actions. The delegation met with Mr. Romano Prodi (Former President of the European Commission, Former Prime Minister of Italy) , Agnelli Family (the so-called “Royal Family” in Italy), Zegna Family (behind the century- old luxury brand “Zegna”), Compagnia di Sanpaolo (Italy’s largest bank) and Europe Innovation Center, and held close- door meetings with Mr. Francesco Profumo (Former Minister of Education of Italy, President of Compagnia di Sanpaolo), Mr. Massimo Lapucci (President of the European Foundation Center), and other Italian and European philanthropists and philanthropic organizations. During the meetings, in-depth discussions were held on substantive cooperation in the fields of children’s education, artificial intelligence, pharmaceutical industry, social impact investment, philanthropic innovation, sustainable development, family legacy, community building, culture and art, etc. A special investigation was also made into the potential permanent site in Turin for the East-West Philanthropy Forum (European office) and the China-Italy Philanthropy Forum.
