Developed the first East-West United Action on Rural Revitalization in China

Mr. Soichiro Fukutake, the Honorary Advisor and former Chairman & CEO of Benesse Holdings, donated US$1 million to establish The Fukutake Center for Art & Philanthropy at CGPI on July 18, 2017. The mission of this center is to demonstrate and promote the effectiveness of using art and culture to revitalize rural communities. Inspired by Mr. Fukutake, philanthropist Dong Fangjun unveiled plans for the revitalization of Peach Flower Island through art, culture, and nature. This project represents a momentous multicultural collaboration between the two philanthropists from China and Japan. The overarching goal is to create a model to inspire similar action across China and beyond – action that resurrects cultures and environments on the brink of extinction and helps to revitalize rural economic efforts on behalf of both people and the environment.
