During the East-West Sustainability Summit in 2016,leading Chinese philanthropist and CGPI Co-Founder He Qiaonyu and American Philanthropist Mr. Thomas Kaplan agreed to work together on conservation, especially in areas vital for survival of the big cats, beginning with the Snow Leopard in China and lions in Africa. In October 2017, these two philanthropists signed the Large Cat Conservation Project Agreement at the “United Action for Sustainability: An Historic Moment in Monaco” event. This was a milestone for international cooperation on big cat conservation, with the goal of establishing 10 high-risk areas around the world, with the first phase prioritizing a snow leopard reserve in China and a lion reserve in Africa.
